Treppiede Artcise AS95C

Un gigante fra i treppiedi, con qualità e ottime prestazioni. Ad un prezzo contenuto.

Poiché avevo carenza di treppiedi (…) mi sono fatto ingolosire da un bestione che ho visto su internet, di provenienza cinese ma, almeno a giudicare dalle prime impressioni d’uso, con caratteristiche decisamente conformi a più blasonati – e costosi – tripodi.

Sto parlando del treppiede Artcise AS95C, veramente una piacevole sorpresa sotto diversi punti di vista. Si tratta di un treppiede stabile e robusto come, per esempio, il Manfrotto 055 in alluminio (che già possiedo ma che non mi azzardo più a portare fuori di casa, con somma gioia della mia schiena) però più leggero, decisamente più alto alla massima estensione ed in grado di portare una testa di generose dimensioni.

Brevemente, queste sono le sue caratteristiche:

– gambe in 4 sezioni in fibra di carbonio, la maggiore è 40 mm di diametro (!), estendibili con fermi a rotazione gommati; piedini di gomma sostituibili in caso di necessità con piedini in metallo a punta presenti nella confezione;

– le gambe sono posizionabili con diverse inclinazioni ed il treppiede può essere aperto totalmente, arrivando praticamente rasoterra, con unica altezza utile quella della testa fotografica più una decina di centimetri;

– altezza massima 208 cm (con colonna centrale a due sezioni di 40 mm estratta); non ci arrivo nemmeno se salto, ma è indubbiamente utile in determinate situazioni poter disporre di una “giraffa” simile;

– utilizzabile con una base di livellamento da 75 mm facile da installare e di una notevole comodità o, in alternativa, con una crociera standard in alluminio, forata per alleggerire il peso, con un gancio sottostante a cui è possibile appendere lo zaino o un peso qualsiasi per una maggiore stabilizzazione del treppiede e con fori dedicati a viti passanti che bloccano la testa;

– c’è in dotazione anche una colonna centrale, sempre in carbonio, suddivisa in due sezioni estendibili e la cui unica pecca (ma è un particolare di poco conto) è la mancanza di un gancio simile a quello della crociera in alluminio a cui poter appendere borse e accessori; ho risolto facilmente acquistando a parte un gancio da avvitare, con pochissima spesa;

– il treppiede viene consegnato con diversi accessori, alcuni dei quali veramente utili, come la rete di carico da appendere fra le tre gambe e comodissima per mettere oggetti d’uso o semplicemente un peso per stabilizzare ulteriormente il treppiede stesso; c’è una sacca in cordura che contiene il treppiede ripiegato con montata la testa fotografica; ci sono altri accessori come i sopracitati piedini in metallo appuntiti, brugole di regolazione, viti di bloccaggio e anche un braccetto da avvitare a cui collegare accessori vari fra cui un porta-cellulare (anch’esso fornito nella confezione) per fotografi con il risvoltino (scusate, questa mi è scappata, sono una bestia, lo so);

– il costruttore dichiara una portata massima di 40 kg e, sinceramente, faccio fatica a non credergli: il treppiede sembra veramente una roccia.

Solo per informazione: toccate con mano caratteristiche più che interessanti e la qualità costruttiva, mi sono fatto ingolosire ed ho acquistato anche la testa a sfera della stessa casa produttrice cinese, la Artcise XB54 da 54 mm, decisamente proporzionata per essere montata sulla generosa crociera. Anche qui le prime impressioni sono positive ma, sempre tenendo a mente il motto della nonna “Scopa nuova pulisce sempre bene”, aspetto di usarla intensamente prima di promuoverla.

Insomma, in sintesi, sembra decisamente un gran bel treppiede (anche dal punto di vista estetico), con caratteristiche da pro ma con costi decisamente inferiori (stiamo parlando di quasi 1/5 del costo della marca più famosa fra i fotografi). Ovviamente occorre aspettare il verdetto del giudice supremo, la prova sul campo: solo l’utilizzo nel corso del tempo e alle condizioni usuali per il suo impiego, fango o polvere, umidità, freddo gelido, qualche botta involontaria, potrà stabilire se le ottime promesse verranno mantenute.

A giant among tripods, with quality and excellent performance. At an affordable price.

Since I had a shortage of tripods (…) I was intrigued by a behemoth I saw on the Internet, of Chinese origin but, at least judging by the first impressions of use, with characteristics decidedly in line with more emblazoned – and expensive – tripods.

I am talking about the Artcise AS95C tripod, truly a pleasant surprise in several respects. It is a stable and sturdy tripod like, for example, the Manfrotto 055 in aluminium (which I already own but which I no longer dare to take out of the house, to the joy of my back) but lighter, decidedly higher at maximum extension and able to carry a generously sized head.

Briefly, these are its features:

– legs in 4 carbon fibre sections, the largest being 40 mm in diameter (!), extendable with rubberized rotation stops; rubber feet that can be replaced if necessary with pointed metal feet included in the package;

– the legs can be positioned at different angles and the tripod can be opened fully, reaching practically to the ground, with the only useful height being that of the camera head plus about ten centimetres;

– maximum height 208 cm (with two-section 40 mm centre column extracted); I can’t even reach it if I jump, but it is undoubtedly useful in certain situations to have a similar ‘giraffe’;

– it can be used with a 75 mm levelling base that is easy to install and of considerable convenience or, alternatively, with a standard aluminium cruiser, drilled to lighten the weight, with a hook underneath on which you can hang your rucksack or any weight for greater stabilisation of the tripod, and with dedicated holes for through-bolting screws that secure the head;

– there is also a central column, also made of carbon, divided into two extendable sections and whose only flaw (but it is a minor detail) is the lack of a hook similar to the one on the aluminium crossbar from which to hang bags and accessories; I easily solved this by purchasing a hook to screw in separately, at very little expense;

– the tripod is delivered with several accessories, some of which are really useful, such as the loading net to hang between the three legs and very convenient for placing objects or simply a weight to further stabilise the tripod itself; there is a cordura bag that holds the folded tripod with the camera head mounted; there are other accessories such as the aforementioned pointed metal feet, adjusting screws, locking screws and even a screw-on arm to which various accessories can be attached, including a mobile phone holder (also included in the package) for photographers with lapels (sorry, that one slipped out, I’m a beast, I know);

– the manufacturer claims a maximum load capacity of 40 kg and, frankly, I find it hard not to believe him: the tripod really does look like a rock.

Just for information: having seen the more than interesting features and the build quality, I was intrigued and also bought the ball head from the same Chinese manufacturer, the 54 mm Artcise XB54, which is very well-proportioned to be mounted on the generous cruiser. Here too, first impressions are positive but, always keeping in mind grandma’s motto ‘new broom always cleans well’, I wait to use it intensively before promoting it.

In summary, it definitely looks like a great tripod (also from an aesthetic point of view), with pro features but at a much lower cost (we are talking about almost 1/5 of the cost of the most famous brand among photographers). Obviously we must wait for the verdict of the supreme judge, the field test: only use over time and under the usual conditions for its use, mud or dust, humidity, freezing cold, a few unintentional bumps, will be able to establish whether the excellent promises will be kept.
